FALL ADULT BALLET CLASSES

Serious Training in a Supportive and Enjoyable Environment

Join the Fall Adult Ballet Program at AA Classical Ballet School in Calgary. Our classes are designed for adults who want more than a casual exercise class. Students receive thoughtful corrections, clear technical guidance, and progressively challenging exercises that support genuine improvement.

Whether you are beginning ballet for the first time, returning after a break, or continuing your training, you will be encouraged to develop greater strength, coordination, musicality, confidence, and classical ballet technique.

Our classes are challenging, focused, and rewarding—but they are also welcoming and fun. We believe adults learn best when they are inspired, appropriately challenged, and given the individual attention they need to progress.

The Fall 2026 schedule will be announced soon. Classes are expected to begin in mid-October or early November.

 Beginner Ballet

Strong foundations for adults who are ready to learn and improve.

Our Beginner Adult Ballet classes provide a detailed introduction to classical ballet in a positive and encouraging environment. No previous ballet experience is required, but students should come prepared to learn, concentrate, and be appropriately challenged. Classes focus on posture, alignment, ballet positions, coordination, musicality, strength, and foundational technique at the barre and in the centre. Exercises progress carefully so students can understand the movements, apply corrections, and build strong technical habits. The atmosphere is friendly and enjoyable, while the training remains purposeful. Students receive constructive feedback and are encouraged to improve at their own pace.

Intermediate / Advanced Ballet

Focused training for adults with previous ballet experience.

Our Intermediate and Advanced Adult Ballet classes are designed for dancers who want to maintain and meaningfully develop their classical ballet technique. Classes may include detailed barre work, centre practice, adagio, pirouettes, jumps, travelling combinations, and musical interpretation. Students are challenged to improve alignment, placement, strength, control, coordination, precision, artistry, and performance quality.Instruction includes specific corrections and technical guidance. The environment is supportive and enjoyable, but students can expect focused, physically engaging classes that encourage consistent progress.

No previous ballet experience is required for Beginner Adult Ballet. Intermediate and Advanced classes are intended for students with previous ballet training.

If you are unsure which class is appropriate for you, please contact AA Classical Ballet School before registering.

Yes. Our adult ballet classes are designed to be appropriately challenging for each level. Students receive clear instruction, constructive corrections, and progressively developed exercises that encourage genuine technical and physical improvement.

The classes are focused and rewarding while remaining welcoming, positive, and fun.

Yes. Beginner classes are challenging at an appropriate introductory level. Exercises are carefully explained and developed progressively so new dancers can build confidence, coordination, strength, musicality, and sound classical ballet technique.

You do not need previous experience, but you should be ready to learn, concentrate, and apply corrections.

Yes. Constructive corrections are an important part of our teaching. Instructors help students understand alignment, placement, posture, coordination, musicality, and classical technique.

Corrections are delivered respectfully and according to each dancer’s experience and ability. Our goal is to help students understand how to improve—not simply complete the exercises.

Beginner Ballet introduces foundational positions, alignment, posture, coordination, musicality, and classical technique through carefully structured barre and centre exercises.

Intermediate and Advanced Ballet is intended for dancers with previous training. Classes may include more complex barre work, centre practice, adagio, pirouettes, jumps, travelling combinations, and musical interpretation.

Students at these levels are expected to have an established understanding of ballet vocabulary and foundational technique.

Complete beginners should select Beginner Ballet. Dancers with previous training may be suited to Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced Ballet depending on their experience, current technique, and the length of time since they last trained.

Please contact AA Classical Ballet School if you are uncertain. The school can help you choose the most appropriate class.

A typical class may include barre exercises, centre practice, and combinations designed for the class level. Students work on posture, alignment, placement, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, musicality, and classical ballet technique.

Intermediate and Advanced classes may also include adagio, pirouettes, jumps, travelling steps, and more complex combinations.

Adult ballet provides many physical benefits, including improved strength, posture, flexibility, balance, coordination, and body awareness. However, our program is first and foremost a classical ballet class.

Students learn ballet vocabulary, technique, musicality, and artistry rather than simply following exercises for general fitness.

Adults can begin ballet at many different ages. You do not need to have trained as a child to participate in Beginner Adult Ballet.

Students are encouraged to work within their abilities, listen to their bodies, and focus on their own development rather than comparing themselves with others.

Wear comfortable, form-fitting dancewear or athletic clothing that allows you to move freely and enables the instructor to see your alignment. Leggings with a fitted top or traditional ballet attire are both appropriate.

Ballet slippers are recommended. Long hair should be secured away from the face, and jewellery should be kept to a minimum.

Consistent attendance is important for developing strength, coordination, musicality, and technique. Progress varies according to each student’s experience, attendance, physical condition, and personal goals.

Regularly attending the classes included in your registration will help you receive the greatest benefit from the program.

Yes. Students must register before attending class. Advance registration allows the school to manage class sizes, confirm enrolment, and communicate important program information.

Registration will open after the Fall 2026 schedule and tuition have been confirmed.
