Jane Corns

Jane is honoured to be recognized as faculty at AA Classical Ballet in Calgary, drawing on distinguished accomplishments in both dance and health studies. Born and raised in Calgary, she danced locally and undertook advanced training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. Jane completed her ballet examinations primarily with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), and also earned national dance certifications—cultivating a deep foundation in classical ballet technique and pedagogy.
Jane’s faculty appointments include teaching at the Royal Conservatory of Dance and Music at Mount Royal College (now Mount Royal University), where she guided many young dancers from pre-primary up, nurturing their first steps on stage and preparing them for examinations. After relocating to Edmonton, she pursued further academic studies—including time at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland—while continuing to share her passion through private instruction and teaching classical technique to rhythmic gymnasts. Among Jane’s varied performance experiences, a highlight was dancing as a soloist accompanied by the live Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jane’s formative years were enriched by the mentorship of many ballet icons, including Lindsay Walsh, founder of Alberta Ballet, Shirley Agate-Proust, and Clinton Rothwell, former Principal Dancer of the National Ballet, whose guidance remains deeply cherished.
For Jane, teaching ballet is both a privilege and a profound responsibility—an art that nurtures strength, inspires beautiful lines and expressive movement, and fosters self-discipline and lasting grace. She is deeply humbled to accompany each dancer’s journey, dedicated to igniting promise and nurturing joy. To Jane, it is a cherished honour to touch the canvas of each student’s life. Jane remains passionately devoted to sharing the fulfillment and beauty of ballet with every dancer, always grateful for the opportunity to uplift young artists.”
