Jaciel Gomez

Founder/ Artistic Director/ Principal Ballet Instructor.

Jaciel Gomez is a classically trained ballet dancer and educator with a strong foundation in Cuban ballet technique and an extensive international career. Born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, he began his training at the Provincial School of Arts before being accepted into the Cuban National Ballet School in Havana, where he graduated as a professional dancer and certified teacher, recognized among the top students of his class.

He began his professional career with the National Ballet of Cuba under the direction of Alicia Alonso, where he quickly distinguished himself for his strength, clarity, and stage presence. In 2006, he was promoted to Soloist, performing principal roles in major classical ballets including Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Giselle, and The Sleeping Beauty, among many others. His career with the company took him on international tours across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Australia, performing a wide and demanding repertoire that reflected the power and excellence of Cuban ballet.

During this time, he worked alongside internationally renowned artists such as Carlos Acosta and collaborated with distinguished choreographers including Alberto Alonso, experiences that further shaped his technical precision and artistic depth.

In 2011, Jaciel joined Alberta Ballet under the direction of Jean Grand-Maître, where he expanded his repertoire as a leading artist. His performances included both classical and contemporary works such as Giselle, Don Quixote, Othello, The Nutcracker, Love Lies Bleeding, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, and Class Act, working with internationally recognized choreographers including Ben Stevenson, David Nixon, and Stanton Welch. He was later recognized as a Principal Dancer, noted for his control, power, and commanding presence on stage.

Critics described his performances as technically precise and dynamically expressive, highlighting his ability to combine strength, clean lines, and confidence with a strong artistic voice.

After retiring from the stage in 2015, Jaciel transitioned into teaching and artistic direction. He is known for his disciplined, structured approach and his commitment to high-level training. His classes emphasize strength, coordination, precision, and consistency, guiding dancers to understand movement with clarity and purpose.

His teaching integrates the strength and dynamism of Cuban technique with elements of Vaganova training and the structure of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), creating a demanding and well-balanced approach to ballet education. He works closely with each dancer, helping them develop not only strong technique, but also confidence, control, and artistic presence.

For Jaciel, ballet is built on discipline, clarity, and consistency—values he continues to pass on to the next generation of dancers.
